Passages
December 2023
Passages explores multiple ways in which one can experience the process of transition. This process can refer to a shift in one’s internal thoughts, a change in relationship to another, or even a meaningful life transition. Instead of looking back at an event or moment that has already occurred or anticipating change to come, Passages focuses specifically on the liminal, sustained experience of being in flux.

Beauty Lies Between My Palm
Solo Exhibition, July 2019
Beauty Lies Between My Palm and Death begins my own exploration of this multifaceted microcosm by considering elements of my creative process: introspection, influence, inspiration, interpolation, and time. Far from aiming to reduce the creative process to mere discrete steps, I seek to acknowledge that the process is just as beautiful as the finished piece itself - or may even be the heart of where the beauty of the piece lies. Through this lens, it became important for me to consider my relationship to each of these aspects separately, as well as how they resolve into a whole - what can they tell me about my conflicted relationship with beauty and time?
Tiny Towns
I spend a lot of time taking walks around neighborhoods in San Francisco. I’m delighted by how houses look nested, stacked, or buried, and where they appear in relation to each other. The tiny town papercuts take cues from specific photos, but are a composite of many views and what I’m feeling at the time. Many of these tiny towns are not planned out, but evolve over the course of a few hours.
Papercut Stations of the Tokaido
2015-2017
I find Hiroshige woodcuts endlessly beautiful. In this series, I took origami papers that have his work printed on it and cut out improvised patterns based on cues from the work itself - what is left is a delicate, almost dreamy image.
“Journey”
This series was created such that each piece would be at fluctuating on the same horizon. At the time, I was ruminating on one’s journey and how each vignette is tied to what’s before and after and much after.
Found Photographs
I am a collector. When I travel places, especially on road trips, I like to wander through antique stores, thrift shops, and garage sales.
